The easiest way to meet our Clergy is to visit St. James on a Sunday morning. That said, they are always open to meeting people for a cup of coffee or tea. Often people have questions or concerns they want to explore in confidence before visiting St. James in person.
Fr. Ed is our Founding Rector (Sr. Pastor). He is married to Evelyn Frith-McNeill. He was ordained in 1986 in the Diocese of Edmonton, in Alberta Canada where he served until 1999 when he and Evelyn moved to San Jose. While in Alberta he served in both rural and suburban settings and led two congregations through numerical growth and successful building campaigns. After Christmas in 1996 Ed and Evelyn were visiting his parents in Palo Alto when God nudged him with an awareness that they would move to California. A few God nudges later Ed found himself being called as Rector of St. Edward's Episcopal Church in San Jose, CA.
In 2009, Ed and many members of St. Edward's left The Episcopal Church to join the newly forming Anglican Church in North America. Leaving everything behind and starting from scratch, St. James Anglican Church was begun. God blessed this gracious leaving and provided St. James with new buildings in Willow Glen. Every effort was made to remain a blessing to the members of St. Edwards that remained in The Episcopal Church. Fr. Ed remained St. Edward's webmaster for three years until they had a new webmaster.
Ed is a graduate of Trinity College, University of Toronto and Nashotah House Theological Seminary. He enjoys reading, and is an avid Scuba Diver. He is a PADI Divemaster and is working towards becoming an Instructor. He enjoys underwater photography, learning new things, and enjoys working with teams.
Ed serves as Dean of Northern California in our Diocese and oversees the church planting efforts in Northern CA. He also works part time for the Diocese overseeing the Ordination Process as Director of Diocesan Formation. If you would like to have coffee with Ed or chat with him, you can reach him on his cell phone at 408.674.2770
